Developing an Application Programming Interface (API) Gateway to Allow More People to Study and Live-track Disinformation Spread on Twitter

ECHO has a sophisticated technical setup that ducts directly into the Twitter Development Environment to track trending topics. The infrastructure is also integrated with an AI learning algorithm to identify major influencers and evaluate if fully automated Twitter bot operations are a significant part of an astroturfing effort. The proposed API gateway would fill a gap of a much-needed tool and mean new opportunities to investigate social media for journalists, sociologists, historians, political scientists, and other designers and media artists who want to examine Twitter discourse and better understand information dissemination on Twitter.
